ripples
A lightweight construction of iridescent fins fluttering in the wind make "Ripples," a temporary installation for the Boston Arts Festival, on the Christopher Columbus Park in Boston's waterfront.
The iridescent film creates an active piece that changes in color based on the angle from which it is observed. The piece intends to evoke the dynamic nature of the original landscape of the site: the ocean. This area, like many others in Boston is reclaimed land – part of the continuously evolving waterfront.
The installation is completely hand-made by the artist, with over 2000 pieces and hand-made knots.
"Ripples" was commissioned by the Boston Arts Commission and the City of Boston.
Special thanks to the installation team: Brynya Gibson, Robert Gilmore, Aoife Morris and Ervin Plumbi.
